However, despite the arrival of the four match officials and Femmco FC team, Favour-Rite FA was nowhere to be found even after more than an hour of waiting.
Following the stipulated waiting period in accordance with competition regulations, the officials awarded a walkover to Femmco FC, granting them three points and a goal.
According to Femmco FC coach, Oluwafemi Adebayo “the team fulfilled all necessary matchday protocols and adhered to the competition rules.
“We arrived earlier than scheduled and waited for hours without seeing our opponents. The referee went through all the formalities and officially declared the match a walkover. We’re now focused on our next match.” I’m confident in my boys; we’re prepared and ready to win again,” he said.
One of the players, Afolabi Leke, expressed disappointment over the absence of their opponents.
“It’s disappointing that they didn’t come. We were really looking forward to playing. The walkover isn’t bad because we got the points, but we were eager to test our strength and energy on the field. We are glad to have qualified for the knockout stages.”
Femmco FC earn seven points from three games and sit comfortably on the second position in Group B. They will battle it out against table topper Ultimate Bombers FC from Group A.
