Femi Lawal, the Head Coach of 36 Lion Feeders Team Badagry, sheds light on the 36 Lions 23rd-anniversary celebration, end-of-year party, and U16 graduation event.

In an exclusive interview with Sports247, Lawal discusses the significance of the event in talent development, outlines expectations for player promotions, and commends the strong leadership of Alhaji Gafar, the CEO of 36 Lion Football Club.

Coach Femi Lawal emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “The whole event is very okay because we normally pick from the youth of 36 Lion Feeders team.”

As the Head Coach of the Badagry branch, Lawal plays a crucial role in identifying and developing talent as 36 Lions have various branches in Lagos, such as Iwaya, Orile, and more.

Providing insight into the development structure, Lawal explained, “We, the feeders, have from U20 to U10.”

He highlighted the U17 players participating annually in the diaspora game, from which the best talents are selected to join the main 36 Lion Team.

This structured approach ensures a continuous flow of talent from the grassroots to the professional level.

Coach Lawal expressed optimism about player promotions, saying, “From my team, I believe, maximum, they’re going to pick two of my team, two of my players. And from the other branch, maybe two or so.”

The expectation of selecting the best talents from the Feeders Team for promotion to the main 36 Lion Team underscores the success of the talent development program.

Commending the organizational aspect of the event, Lawal praised Alhaji Gafar, stating, “Alhaji Gafar, that is the CEO of 36 Lion Football Club, he’s a very strong man. This is the 23rd year.”

Lawal acknowledged the consistent efforts of the club’s leadership in hosting the diaspora game annually, fostering a platform for youth development and talent showcase.

Expressing pride in the achievements of the Badagry branch, Lawal stated, “I’m very proud of Badagry. We’ve promoted a lot of players from Badagry to the 36 Lion main team.”

He remains optimistic about the continuous success of Badagry players, believing that one or two players from the 36 Lion Feeders Team Badagry will be selected to join the main 36 Lion team.
