The Millwall star, whose full name is Oluwafemi Javier Azeez Beloso, warded off pressure from three other outstanding performers to win the vote for Championship player of the month for February.
Azeez was born on June 5th, 2001 in England to a Nigerian father and Spanish mother, then grew up in Northwood with his younger brother, Miguel, who is also a professional footballer.
His career took a dramatic turn after he was released by Watford at the age of 14, as he moved to non-league side, Northwood, where he got only 12 appearances in his debut season and signed for their local rivals, Wealdstone in 2018.
He completed a permanent move to Millwall from Reading on August 21st, 2024, after scoring 11 goals in 89 appearances, then got his debut for his new club August 24th, in a goalless draw away to Hull City.
Sports247 gathered further that Azeez scored his first Millwall goal on November 23rd, after getting off the bench to net a crucial equalizer in added time and forced a dramatic 1-1 draw against Sunderland.
He has now emerged as Championship player of the month for February 2026 after five assists in addition to his Goal of the Season contender against Birmingham City and he was in red-hot form.
Azeez told millwallfc.co.uk, “I’m absolutely delighted to win this award. It’s a special moment for me – I have to thank my team mates as well; it’s been a good month. We just need to keep going now!”
Millwall’s coach, Alex Neil added: “It’s well deserved. He has been our talisman this year and every time he has been on form, we have definitely carried an extra threat at the top end of the pitch.
“I think this month, with the number of points we have accumulated and the run we have been on, he has been the catalyst for that.”
