2019 Institute of Chartered Account ICAN President Golf Tournament was rounded off at Arsenal Golf and Country Club Obinze Owerri, Imo State with a female player Kachi Patience emerging the overall winner of the competition
She came top in the ICAN Ladies with 74 net beating her only female opponent Ify Nwachukwu who came second with 111net
In the men category, Doyin Awolabi made 78 net to emager winner while Abbey I. and Mankinde emerged second with 78 net and third with 80 net respectively,
Bolu Gbadegosin lost out on count back in the Guest Men category with 75-5 = 70 net while E.Onumajuru and Titus Promise won on count back with 70 net and 68 net winner new hand card 8:2= 8
Presenting the award to the winners at the event, the ICAN President Mazi Nnamdi Okwuadigbo expressed joy over the outcome of the tournament which according to him was organized to honour I CAN members
He urger Nigerians to take to the game of golf, adding that golf remains the best game that keeps one and his mental alertment fit all the time
Recalled that the motor of the ICAN is accuracy and transparency, the president advised every golf players to imbibe the culture of transparency in life to ensure their success
The Captain of the Club, Mr Clifford Orjiako stated the essence of the tournament is to promote tourism in the state which the Club stand out with their standard facilities,
He noted that the 5 days event in the brouth together players from across the country who enjoined the hospitality of the state
He commended the organizing Committee lead by ……. for working tiedlessly to endure it was successful
In her speach, the overall winner kachi Patience expressed her joy for emerging winner while thanking her husband for not only bringing her into golf but for his encouragement to play the game after she refused to take to the game after she was registered into the IBB golf club by his husband who is a police officer because she once lead her family members to and fast pray that the husband should quit the game but got more interested in the game immediately she started playing the game.
Patient recalled that she started playing golf since 1998, adding that in 2015 during her first tournament, She won the First Ladies championship
She said that the experiences she gained in golf have taken her across the countries of the world such as Dubai, Mouritenia to represent Nigeria while urging people to join the game of golf as it has helped her to uniting members of her family.
