Borussia Dortmund of Germany’s Nigerian-born midfielder, Felix Nmecha is in a three-way summer transfer tussle, as the English Premier League trio of Newcastle United, Manchester United and Liverpool are gunning for his signature.
Sports247 reports that Manchester United appear at the head of the race, as they have space available for Nmecha to fit into, while Newcastle will have to sell one of their current array of players, while Liverpool are lukewarm over a deal for him.
A British journalist, Craig Hope also disclosed, “Newcastle have Germany midfielder Felix Nmecha on their shortlist this summer. The 25-year-old has a £73.5m buyout at Dortmund, but a deal could be negotiated at a lower price. Man Utd are also linked, but he is not thought to be near top of their list.”
However, Sky Sports pointed out that The Red Devils are actually in pole position for Nmecha’s signature, having opened discussions over a deal and their head of scouting, Christopher Vivell is in contact with the player’s representatives.
The report adds that Nmecha has attracted interest across Europe, following his performances, especially at the ongoing FIFA World Cup, where has a goal as well as more duels (10) and more tackles (8) than any other German against Ivory Coast.
“Manchester City and Liverpool are also monitoring the midfielder, while Real Madrid have reportedly been keeping tabs on his situation. United are keen to strengthen their midfield options and view Nmecha as a key target.
“However, Dortmund are in a strong negotiating position after tying the former Manchester City academy graduate to a new contract until 2030 earlier this year,” the report by UK’s Sky Sport submitted.
