Speaking on the sport’s potential in the country, Auger-Aliassime pointed to Nigeria’s large population and untapped fan base as major strengths, stressing that visibility and opportunity are crucial to driving interest.

“Nigeria has a huge population and massive potential. If more players are developed and given the chance to compete and be seen, interest in tennis will naturally grow,” he said.

The former top-10 player added that success stories often inspire wider participation, noting that as Nigerian players begin to emerge on the international stage, public support and popularity for tennis in the country will increase organically.

“Once people can identify with players from their own country, the fans will come and the sport will grow,” Auger-Aliassime concluded.

His comments echo ongoing calls for stronger grassroots structures and sustained investment to help unlock Nigeria’s potential in global tennis.
