Dar es Salaam – Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum, popularly known as Fei Toto, has expressed confidence that Azam FC can reach the semi-finals of this season’s CAF Confederation Cup, aiming to make history for the club and Tanzanian football.
The 23-year-old, who is regarded as the most expensive midfielder in the Tanzanian Premier League, said the team is well-prepared under the guidance of experienced coach Florent Ibenge, particularly in continental competitions.

“We have been eliminated early in several seasons we have participated in the CAF championship, but this season I believe we are going to make history by reaching the semi-finals due to the quality of the squad and the experience of our coach Ibenge,” Fei Toto said in an exclusive interview.
Fei Toto, who also represents the Tanzanian national team ‘Taifa Stars’, emphasized the determination and unity of the Azam squad as key ingredients for success. “Every player is committed to giving their best. The CAF Confederation Cup is very competitive, but with our talent, discipline, and teamwork, we can go far,” he added.
Azam FC has already shown strong form in the tournament. The team qualified for the last 32 stage after eliminating El Merreikh Bantui of South Sudan with a commanding 4-0 aggregate victory. In the second round, they are set to face fellow Tanzanian side KMKM of Zanzibar, a matchup Fei Toto says will test the team’s resilience and quality.
The midfielder highlighted that experience in international competitions will be crucial for Azam’s campaign. “Playing in the CAF competitions is different from local leagues. You need focus, patience, and tactical discipline. Our coach has instilled all that in us,” Fei Toto explained.
With a combination of skillful players, tactical awareness, and a belief in their potential, Fei Toto believes this could be Azam FC’s most successful CAF campaign yet, inspiring Tanzanian football fans and setting a benchmark for the future.
