FCT FA League: 10-Man WACO, Winco Foam Start Super 4 On Winning Note

Winco Foam FC were the first team to pick the maximum three points in the ongoing 2019/20 FCT FA Super 4 League.

The Super 4 which kicked off 10:00 am Monday morning saw Winco Foam subdued Basic Maracana 2-1 in a three-goal thriller at the Area 3 Sports Complex, Abuja.

Both teams knew the importance of winning the first match and that energized Kingsley Edwin who wasted no time lashing in the first scoring opportunity created by his team in the 7th minute.

Basically, Basic Maracana grew back into the game putting strings of passes together and their plans paid off in the 32nd minute when Adegwu Collins connected well with a pass from the right flank which located him unmarked, an inch outside the opponent 18-yard box, his curler located the right angle that left Winco goalkeeper rattled.

The first 45 minutes ended 1-1 with both teams coming into the second with a winning mentality.

Upon resumption, Winco Foam FC in their usual way put strings of passes together to penetrate their opponent defense. But Basic Maracana basically and technically kept the weapons thrown at them harmless.

18 minutes into the second half, Nwachukwu Michael scored the winner putting his team ahead for the second time in the game.

Basic Maracana then threw everything into the game to see if they can rescue at least a point, but all efforts to get that done hit the rock.

After the three added minutes expired, the centre referee sounded his whistle signalling the end of the match.

In the second of the Super Four, Ten-man WACO FA could not found the back of the net, until the 82nd minute when Waco talisman who doubles as the captain, Enock Tanimu after beating the offside trap received a pass from the midfield and skillfully outsmarted the Abees FA defense to curl in a low shot past Abees keeper.

The opponent protest that Tanimu goal was offside was rejected by the match official. With not less than 10 minutes to the end of the well-contested match, Abees weapon and artilleries to break WACO defense were well protected by the anti-coronavirus and water-tight defense.

Abees goalkeeper, James Audieblele put up a brilliant performance and was the reason his team stood toe-to-toe with WACO till the 82nd minute.
