Former national 400m women’s champion, Fatima Yusuf-Olukoju is still celebrating her election into the board of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), but quickly added that she needs everyone’s support in order to succeed.
Sports247 reports that the former quarter-miler, who was elected on the platform of Nigeria Association of Women In Sports (NAWIS), will flaunt a laudable status as an ex-athlete and coach, backed with several years of experience gained from her international exposure.
However, in spite of her lofty credentials and contributions, the highly acclaimed ‘Ibira Icon’ admitted that she is not heading into the AFN on a solo mission, and stressed that all the newly elected officials must put heads together in order to succeed.
“Each and everyone who has won the election has a lot to contribute. I have a lot to contribute with my experience as a former athlete, a coach, and an administrator.
“Also, as a business owner, I can bring something new into athletics. I also believe in the proverb ‘two heads are better than one.’ So, we are going to be working together tirelessly to move our agenda forward,” Yusuf-Olukoju affirmed.
