Gift Nyakno Monday, a fast-rising striker in Nigeria’s female national team, Super Falcons, has received a massive shower of praise from American ace, Brittany Ratcliffe, who happens to be one of her colleagues at Washington Spirit FC of USA, Sports247 reports.
The rain of accolades by Ratcliffe comes just three months after Gift Monday joined the Washington DC-based National Women Soccer League (NWSL) outfit, where she put pen to paper on March 25 this year, after arriving from UD Tenerife of Spain earlier in the same month.

The former COD United Amazons and FC Robo Queens of Lagos ace, who also played for Bayelsa Queens of Yenagoa before moving to Spain in 2022, hit the ground running by netting her first goal for Washington Spirit just two weeks after signing the dotted lines.
Monday now has four goals from eight games in the NWSL, where she got her debut on April 12th and the 23-year-old damsel, who also has two goals in 10 appearances for Nigeria’s Falcons, is being hailed by Ratcliffe as a huge asset to The Spirit, which recently had fellow-Nigerian attacker, Francisca Ordega in their fold.
Ratcliffe, who is also a former USA international striker, said about her new teammate: “She’s the best. She’s been such a great addition to the team, obviously, with the contributions she’s made on the field. She’s really a good finisher.”
Incidentally, Monday’s fourth goal of the current season came just this past weekened, as she struck in a 3-1 victory over North Carolina Courage, but Ratcliffe went on to point out that the Nigerian lass puts in more effort than just scoring during matches.
Ratcliffe added, “Some other players don’t get involved, and they don’t work, but Gift does it all. She works hard … she defends, she’s good on the ball, and she finishes well.
“She brings in a lot of energy. She does it all. You can’t speak enough highly about her. Off the field, she’s also so fine. Always dancing, always smiling, and she’s just such a good personality.”
Brittany concluded by expressing optimism for continued huge impacts in the team from Monday, so that the Falcons’ fast-rising attacker would be able to boost her career growth rapidly and help the club achieve accelerated progress as well.
“It’s been really great to see her … not only as a part of this team, but also to see her get what she deserves.
“I hope she keeps on going, because she deserves it; and I’m really happy for her,” concluded 31-year-old Ratcliffe, who has just three goals in 23 games for the club she joined last year from North Carolina Courage, who Monday jelped The Spirit defeat on Sunday.
