Falcons’ Coach Should Try New Players At WAFU Mini-tournament, Coach Edwin Okon Suggests

Super Falcons’ former coach, Edwin Okon has suggested that the team’s current handler should use the upcoming West Agrican Football Union (WAFU) mini-tournament to test new players.

Sports247 reports that the competition is billed to hold from February 27th to March 7th in Abidjan, where Nigeria, Ghana, and Senegal will lock horns with the hosts.

While peeping into the Falcons’ chances of emerging tops of the contest, Okon said it would be better to test new players for the Nigerian women’s senior national team.

The experienced female football tactician reasoned further, “They might as well use it to discover more good legs from the league in Nigeria and expose others as well.

“If they don’t expose other players with such opportunities like this, older players will not be easily replaced.”

He concluded with a charge that Falcons’ coach, Justin Madugu should be bold enough to include up to ten new players in his squad for the mini-competition.

Okon postulated, “We should be able to use this mini-tournament to bring in about five, six, seven, or even ten new players to assist the older ones.

“That would also help us discover more players that are home-based, who would later join the big house called Super Falcons.”
