Falconets To Face Burundi In U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers Starting September 1

Nigeria’s Falconets, known for their strong performance in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World
Cup, have been drawn to face Burundi in the second qualifying round for the 2024 edition of the tournament.

The draw took place in Cairo, Egypt, where the Falconets were placed in the second round based on their impressive history in the competition.

Ghana, Nigeria’s fierce rivals in women’s football, will also enter the competition in the
second round. They are set to face the winner of the first round matchup between Togo and Guinea Bissau.

The qualifying process, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), involves
the first six nations with the lowest rankings competing in a round-robin format from
September 1 to 10. Equatorial Guinea will take on Libya, Togo will face Guinea Bissau, and
Mauritius will square off against Chad.

The winners of this initial round will advance to the second round of qualifiers. The victorious team from the Equatorial Guinea versus Libya match will then confront Ethiopia in the second round. However, the most highly anticipated clash of the round is between Senegal and Mali.

The second qualifying round matches are scheduled to be held from October 6 to 15, 2023.

The winners will then progress to the third round of qualifiers, taking place between
November 12 and 19, 2023.

In the subsequent round, the four countries that emerge as winners will compete against
each other in a round-robin format to determine the two representatives for Africa at the
2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The Falconets’ impressive track record in reaching the semifinals of the tournament on three previous occasions positions them as strong contenders in the qualifying rounds. If they continue their successful run, they have the potential to secure their place in the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The competition promises to be fiercely contested, with Ghana and other African nations vying for the coveted spots on the global stage. Football fans across the continent will eagerly follow the qualifying matches as the teams battle for the opportunity to showcase their talent and represent Africa at the prestigious tournament.
