Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, began their WAFU Zone B U-20 Women’s Cup campaign in emphatic fashion with a 3–1 victory over Ghana at the Stade Omnisports d’Adjohoun in Benin Republic.
Star forward Jenat Akeremkowei was the standout performer, scoring twice in the first half in the 37th and doubled the lead in the 45+1 minutes via a penalty kick to hand Nigeria a comfortable 2–0 lead at halftime.

The Falconets continued their dominance after the restart, adding a third goal through Favour, who scored directly from a well-taken corner kick.
Ghana managed a late consolation, but it was not enough to trouble the composed Nigerian side.
The win puts Nigeria at the top of the standings in the 2025 WAFU B U-20 Women’s Cup, which features three teams, Ghana, Nigeria, and Benin Republic competing in a new round-robin format, with each team playing the others twice.
The team with the highest points at the end of the series will be crowned champions.
Nigeria will look to consolidate their lead when they face Benin Republic on Sunday at 10 a.m., as they aim to make a strong statement of intent in their quest for regional glory.
