Former Simba Sports Club head coach Fadlu Davids is set to begin a new chapter in his career after agreeing to take charge of Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic.
Davids, who recently parted ways with Tanzanian powerhouse Simba, has finalized terms with Raja and will travel from South Africa to Morocco tomorrow to officially assume his duties. The appointment marks a return to familiar ground for the South African tactician, who previously served as Raja’s assistant coach during a historic campaign in which the club won the Botola Pro title unbeaten throughout the 2022–23 season.

Raja Casablanca, one of Africa’s most decorated clubs, are seeking to reclaim their dominance both domestically and in continental competitions. The club’s management has pledged full support to Davids and his technical team as they aim to restore Raja’s glory days, particularly in the CAF Champions League where the club boasts three titles but has not lifted the trophy since 1999.
For Davids, the appointment is another major step in his coaching journey. He began his career in South Africa, rising through the ranks at Maritzburg United and later serving as assistant coach at Orlando Pirates before taking up assignments abroad. His time at Simba was marked by efforts to instill a high-tempo, possession-based style, though his stint ended prematurely as the club made technical changes this season.
Raja’s fans will be eager to see whether Davids can replicate the success he enjoyed as assistant coach, this time with full responsibility at the helm.
