The hosts struck in the opening minutes and managed the game effectively thereafter, with Kwara United growing into the contest and creating several chances in search of an equaliser.
Akeem Akanni, Johnmark Aule and Babatunde Bright led the visitors’ attacking efforts, with Akanni forcing a fine save late in the first half before Aule’s rebound narrowly missed the target.
Kwara United increased the pressure after the break following tactical substitutions by head coach Ashifat Suleiman, but Ikorodu City’s defence remained resolute to preserve their slim advantage.
Speaking after the match, Suleiman expressed optimism despite the defeat, noting that his side were unfortunate not to take at least a point and calling for continued support from the fans.
The result leaves Kwara United on 24 points from 21 matches, 16th on the NPFL table, as they prepare to host Rivers United in their next fixture.
