The drama surrounding the Nigerian Kickboxing Federation election has taken a new twist as fresh revelations contradict the narrative making rounds in the sporting community.
What was expected to be a decisive day for Nigerian kickboxing ended abruptly in tension and confusion after the election venue was thrown into chaos — forcing officials to suspend proceedings before results could be finalized.

While fingers were initially pointed at the Federation’s Secretary Mr Javan Benard for allegedly sabotaging the process, an eyewitness who was physically present during the elections has now painted a very different picture — one that suggests the real threat came from outside the official structure, and Mr . Javan Benard was actually the hero of the day, he stood his ground despite the threats and intimidation from the dissident suspended members, we need more secretaries like him , who are honourable and r have integrity.
According to the eyewitness, the election had been running smoothly with delegates seated, accreditation completed, and voting underway until the atmosphere changed dramatically.
“The Secretary didn’t disrupt anything,” the eyewitness clarified.
“The real problem started when some suspended members showed up with hired thugs. They came with one mission—scatter the election. The electoral committee had no option but to halt the process to avoid violence.”
The most heated confrontation reportedly emerged in the South-South zone, where the votes deadlocked at 3 – 3, and neither of the two contestants was willing to step down.
With tempers rising and external intruders fuelling the tension, the environment became too volatile for a credible conclusion.
The eyewitness has now called on the National Sports Commission to step in, investigate the disruption, and ensure those behind the chaos face consequences.
“We can’t build sports on intimidation and desperation,” the eyewitness lamented. “Leadership must be earned, not forced through violence.”
As stakeholders await an official statement, the future of the Federation’s leadership hangs in the balance. Athletes, coaches, and supporters across the country are now demanding that no one should intimidate the secretariat, in an election there would winners and losers , pick your lessons and move on
