The trio represents a deliberate shift towards rejuvenation, as Chelle looks to blend emerging talent with established stars following the last Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
Emmanuel Fernandez (Defender – Rangers F.C.)
London-born centre-back Emmanuel Fernandez has earned his first senior call-up after an impressive season in Scotland. Standing at 1.94m, the 24-year-old has combined defensive solidity with attacking threat, scoring six goals in 26 league appearances.
His aerial dominance and physical presence make him a strong option in both boxes, and Chelle reportedly played a key role in securing his international allegiance for Nigeria.
Philip Otele (Winger – Hamburger SV)
Philip Otele arrives in the squad on the back of consistent club performances in Germany. Since joining Hamburger SV during the winter transfer window, the winger has quickly adapted, earning regular starts.
Known for his pace, dribbling, and eye for goal, Otele previously lit up the Romanian league, finishing as joint top scorer with 18 goals in the 2023/24 season.
His inclusion adds much-needed width and attacking dynamism to the Super Eagles.
Collins Yira Sor
(Forward – KRC Genk)
Collins Yira Sor completes the list of debutants, bringing versatility and direct attacking play.
The 25-year-old winger has been in fine form for Belgian side Genk and is no stranger to Nigeria’s setup, having featured at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
His pace and ability to stretch defenses are expected to provide Chelle with additional attacking options.
Nigeria will face Iran on March 27 before taking on Jordan on March 31, with both matches scheduled to be played in Antalya following a venue change due to security concerns in the Middle East.
These new inclusions underline Chelle’s intent to build depth and competition within the squad, as the Super Eagles begin shaping a new-look team for upcoming international challenges.
