Still basking in the euphoria of their summer tour Benin Republic, Ughelli based grassroot football club, Excellent FC, will play Beninoise CAF Confederation Cup representatives, Buffles Du Borgou, on Monday in a Matchday 2 of the International Pre Season Tourney in Kalavi.
Few days ago, Excellent FC had begun their pre season tour of Benin Republic with a 1 – 0 defeat by Djeff FC, another Beninoise top flight team.
Monday’s clash is expected to expose Excellent FC players more to the blend of football that exists outside Nigeria.
Speaking ahead of the pre season encounter with Buffles Du Borgou on Monday, head coach of Excellent FC, Austin Jonny, said this friendly is the ideal test for his team, as they prepare for the next edition of the famous Ughelli Pre Season Football tournament.
He stated that the experience from this tour will contribute immensely to the individual development of his players on and off the pitch.
“This is perfect test for us,” said Coach Austin.
“In our last game against Djeff FC, we were quite good. Just that momentarily lost of concentration and the cutting edge in the final third cost us the game in the long run.”
“We hope to improve on these grey areas and give our best against Buffles Du Borgou.”
“They’re in the continent this season. It’s coming at the right moment we’re preparing for our home tournament.”
“After now, the Ughelli Pre Season Football Tournament will take place back home in Nigeria.”
“This experience here can’t be bought from the market.”
“It’ll help my players to develop well in their character and attitude on and off the pitch.”
Also speaking, the chief executive officer of Excellent FC, Coach James Onome, said he is pleased with the team’s performance so far.
“I’m impressed with the way they’re playing,” said James Onome.
“The game against Djeff FC was an eye opener. We lost as a result of a defensive error.”
“At this point, we’re all get up and fight again for our pride.”
“Against Buffles Du Borgou, I’m looking forward to an explosive encounter. I expect my players to come to the party.”
Excellent FC will play Buffles Du Borgou by 9am on Monday at the Stade Kalavi in Kalavi.
