Ex internationals should start coaching from the NPFL says Dombraye

Former Nigerian international, Eddy Dombraye has called on his fellow ex internationals to start their Nigerian coaching career from the NPFL and not the national teams.

Several ex-internationals have come out in recent times to indicate their interests in coaching different levels of national teams.

Dombraye in a chat however says the local league harbours different talents and ex- internationals would succeed as coaches in the league.

‘The idea is coming to the NPFL. Most of the things I read on social media is ex- internationals coming to coach national teams, why not start from the NPFL, where the talents are’.

The UEFA licensed coach said something needs to be done to attract football fans to the NPFL.

‘i think gate fees should be encouraged. Nigeria as a nation love football, if the league would develop more, there would be more spectators at the stadium willing to pay gate fees which is a source of income no matter how small. With some side attractions like the fans zone, creating events which fans will love to be involved in, it will really be nice”.

Eddy Dombraye had stints in the Nigerian league with Premier Breweries, Iwuanyanwu Nationale (now Heartland of Owerri) and Bendel Insurance and also played for Nigeria at Nigeria ’99 World Youth Championship.
