Former Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Alloy Agu has given the Nigerian team a glimmer of hope to pick a ticket for next year’s FIFA World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico, as he opined that the qualification race is not yet over, Sports247 reports.
In butressing his view that the Eagles still have hope of picking a ticket, the former MVV Maastrich of Netherlands shot stopper, who lost a tooth during Nigeria’s fruitless quest for a ticket to the Mundial at Italia ’90, echoed that a football match never ends until the final whistle.

Agu, who is now a highly respected pastor and motivational speaker, declared: “Everthing is possible. It is not over until it’s over. This is football and, as long as it’s called football, everything is possible. Everything is always possible in football until the final whistle.”
He also admitted that his confidence in seeing Nigeria get a USA/Canada/Mexico 2026 World Cup ticket has been boosted by the recent deduction of three points from South Africa’s total haul, on account of their fielding an inelligible player.
“We thank God for FIFA applying the normal rule regarding the deduction of three points. So, we are happy, we are hopeful, and we thank God that it came now,” Agu submitted.
