Ikorodu City FC head coach Bright Ozebagbe has urged calm, patience, and continued focus after his side were held to a 1–1 draw by Bayelsa United on Matchday 27 of the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The encounter, played on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, saw the Oga Boys drop valuable home points in an increasingly tense title race.

Despite being forced to come from behind, the result was enough to keep Ikorodu City FC top of the NPFL standings with 45 points.
Bayelsa United silenced the home crowd in the 35th minute when Ettah Ikoi fired the visitors into the lead. Ikorodu City, however, responded with renewed intensity after the interval and were rewarded in the 63rd minute as debutant Olanrewaju Molade curled home a stunning direct free kick to restore parity.
Reflecting on the outcome, Ozebagbe emphasized the competitive nature of the league and the importance of steady improvement.
“Every game comes with its own challenges,” the Ikorodu City boss said. “We keep learning to get better. On to the next.”
While the dropped points slightly slowed their momentum, Ikorodu City remain narrowly ahead in a tightly contested title chase, with Rivers United, Rangers International, and Nasarawa United all within striking distance as the league enters its final eleven matches.
Ikorodu City will now shift focus to their next assignment—a tricky away clash against Bendel Insurance on Saturday, February 28—as they look to tighten their grip on top spot in the NPFL standings.
