Inter Lagos FC have announced that head coach Shakiru Giwa has stepped down from his position, bringing his time in charge of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side to an end.
The club confirmed the development in an official statement on Tuesday, October 13, thanking the coach for his dedication and contribution to its progress.
Giwa played a key role in Inter Lagos’ journey to the top flight, guiding the club from the Nigeria National League (NNL) to the NPFL in a major milestone in its history.
The club described his contribution to the promotion campaign as an important part of its growth, adding that his role in the achievement would remain a valued part of its story.
Inter Lagos also wished Giwa success in his future coaching career as both parties move forward.
His departure comes as the club continues its campaign in the 2026/27 NPFL season. Attention will now turn to the club’s next steps and how it plans to fill the vacant coaching position.
However, the club’s statement did not disclose the reason for Giwa’s decision to step down or name a replacement.
Giwa’s exit marks a significant change for Inter Lagos, with the coach having helped the Lagos-based side secure promotion to Nigeria’s top-flight league.
