Harrison Ebah completed a remarkable seven-day redemption story on Sunday, rising from an unfortunate own goal to become the match-winner and Man of the Match as Nasarawa United defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0 at the Lafia City Stadium.

Ebah had endured a difficult outing the previous week when his own goal contributed to Nasarawa United’s 1-1 home draw against Rivers United.
Seven days later, the central defender turned the narrative around in spectacular fashion.
With the contest against Niger Tornadoes tightly balanced and clear-cut opportunities difficult to come by, Ebah stepped forward in the 20th minute.
Following a partially cleared set-piece, the ball fell to him around 35 yards from goal. Without hesitation, the defender unleashed a stunning long-range strike that flew beyond Niger Tornadoes goalkeeper Jerry Isaac and into the net.
The spectacular effort sent the Lafia City Stadium into celebration and ultimately proved to be the only goal of the encounter.
Niger Tornadoes pushed for an equalizer as the game progressed, but Nasarawa United defended resolutely to preserve their advantage and secure a much-needed victory.
Speaking after the game, Ebah revealed that he was confident the moment the ball fell into his path.
“I thank God for the goal I scored today. I was confident I would score when the ball bounced toward my position,” the defender said.
Ebah also reflected on his previous encounters against Niger Tornadoes, explaining that he has always given his best in such fixtures.
“From my previous seasons and games against Niger Tornadoes, I gave my best, and I always score fantastic goals,” he added.
The defender has now set his sights on contributing even more goals to Nasarawa United’s campaign.
“I wish to keep scoring more goals, maybe five, for the season to help my team secure a continental ticket,” Ebah declared.
The victory lifted Nasarawa United to 13th position with seven points, while Niger Tornadoes dropped to 17th.
For his decisive contribution and outstanding performance, Ebah was named Man of the Match, completing a remarkable transformation from last week’s unfortunate villain to Sunday’s hero.
The Solid Miners will now turn their attention to their next assignment, travelling to Ibadan to face ninth-placed Shooting Stars next weekend as they look to build on their important home victory.
