Doma United are quickly turning their EuroMatch NPFL return into a statement of intent.
The Savannah Tigers continued their impressive start to the 2026/27 campaign on Saturday, edging newly promoted Inter Lagos 1-0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena to make it two victories from two matches.
After opening their campaign with a convincing 2-0 victory over Sporting Lagos, Doma United showed another side of their character in Lagos — less about goals and more about discipline, composure and the ability to protect a narrow advantage when the pressure arrived.
For Inter Lagos, it was another frustrating afternoon. Having opened their campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Shooting Stars, the newly promoted side were again left searching for their first NPFL point of the season.
Doma, meanwhile, leave Lagos with maximum points and another clean sheet, strengthening their early position among the teams setting the pace in the young campaign. Their opening two matches have now produced two wins, three goals scored and no goals conceded.
Doma showing early maturity
There is something increasingly interesting about Doma United’s start.
Their opening-day victory over Sporting Lagos came through goals from Sadiq Rilwan and Azeez Tijani, with goalkeeper and defensive unit helping preserve the advantage after Sporting Lagos were reduced to ten men.
Against Inter Lagos, the challenge was different.
Away from home and facing a side desperate to respond after their opening defeat, Doma had to manage the contest differently — and ultimately found a way to leave Lagos with all three points.
The result means Doma United have now collected six points from their first two matches, giving the club one of the strongest starts in the EuroMatch NPFL.
Inter Lagos still searching
For Inter Lagos, the result makes the next assignment even more important.
The Lagos newcomers showed enough in their opening-day performance against Shooting Stars to suggest that they can compete at this level, but two consecutive defeats mean they now need to convert their promising moments into points.
The club will also have to find a way to become more clinical in front of goal after being restricted by Doma United’s organised defence.
The league is already producing stories
Two matchdays into the EuroMatch NPFL season, Doma United have provided one of the early success stories.
The Savannah Tigers are unbeaten, yet to concede and already sitting among the early pace-setters.
