Former Green Eagles goalkeeper Etta Egbe has called on the Nigeria Football Federation and Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle to find common ground and reach a compromise over the coach’s future.
Egbe said continuity remains crucial for the development of the national team and warned against repeating past mistakes that have disrupted progress in Nigerian football.

“Looking at what the coach has achieved so far, there is a need for continuity,” Egbe said.
The former shot-stopper noted that Chelle has already begun implementing changes aimed at strengthening the Super Eagles squad and improving the team’s overall structure.
“He has taken steps to improve the team and bring stability,” Egbe explained.
According to him, abrupt managerial changes often slow down development and force teams to restart projects unnecessarily.
“When you change coaches too often, you lose momentum and start rebuilding all over again,” he added.
Egbe therefore urged both parties to approach negotiations with flexibility and a shared vision for the national team.
“Both sides must be willing to compromise for the good of Nigerian football,” he said.
However, the former goalkeeper also advised the NFF to be prepared with alternative solutions should discussions fail to produce an agreement.
“If they cannot reach a deal, then the federation must look inward and find the right solution,” he noted.
Egbe concluded by emphasizing that the priority should always be the long-term success of the Super Eagles rather than short-term disagreements.
“The most important thing is the future of the team,” he stated.
His remarks add to the ongoing debate surrounding Chelle’s contract situation and the need for stability within the Super Eagles setup.
