Sports247 gathered that the former Gamecock All-American was on football’s biggest stage as a starting safety for The Seahawks, making it the first time that a product of Irmo High School would be a Super Bowl champion.

The school promptly dispatched a congratulatory message, after Emmanwori capped off an outstanding rookie season by helping Seattle beat New England 29-13 in Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

During the encounter on Sunday, Emmanwori recorded five total tackles, four solo, as The Patriots were held to a pair of touchdowns and they didn’t score their first point until the fourth quarter.

Emmanwori, who played in 17 games for The Seahawks, recording 89 tackles with 2.5 sacks and an interception, finished runner-up for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.

He previously signed with South Carolina in December 2021, then made an instant impact in the secondary and was named SEC All-Freshman, as well as a semifinalist for the Shawn Alexander Freshman of the Year award.

Emmanwori also earned All-America honors as a junior for The Gamecocks before making himself available for the NFL Draft, from which Seattle chose him in the second round with the 35th overall selection.

His former school stated in a post via @Irmo_Football on X: “Huge congrats to Nick Emmanwori and the Seattle Seahawks on winning Super Bowl LX!

“From Irmo to the Lombardi stage. Watching you cap off this season with a ring is something special. Your grind and impact don’t go unnoticed.”
