Emmanuel Iyogun Gains Another Invitation To England’s Rugby Squad

Northampton Saints rugby club’s Nigerian-born prop forward, Emmanuel Iyogun has received another opportunity to play for England at full senior level, as he has been invited to The Lions’ squad for their upcoming Six Nations games.

Sports247 gathered that Iyogun had initially been invited in July 2024 for England’s tour of New Zealand, but he did not make an appearance, then played for the England A side in November 2024.

The second-string appearance came for Iyogun in a victory over Australia A, after which he was selected for the England A squad again in November 2025, but he has now received a main team invite.

Iyogun has been invited alongside two other uncapped players – Greg Fisilau and Vilikesa Sela – as part of England’s 36-man Six Nations squad, mostly because Fin Baxter is currently out with a calf injury.

This provides another shot at senior action for Iyogun, who previously represented England at the 2020 Six Nations U-20 Championship and scored a try in a defeat against Wales.

Iyogun, who was born in Spain and is studying for a degree in Law/Criminology, attended Woodlands School in Basildon and was scouted by Northampton Saints whilst playing for Southend RFC as a 15-year-old.

Other Nigerian-born players called up are Immanuel Feyi-Waboso (Exeter Chiefs, 13 caps), Max Ojomoh (Bath, 2 caps) and Maro Itoje (Saracens, 97 caps – captain); but Saracens lock, Nick Isiekwe misses out.
