Despite these challenges, Dr. Acho immigrated to the U.S., earned multiple degrees, and built a life rooted in service, medicine, and faith. Emmanuel credited his father’s example as the foundation for his own success, as well as that of his siblings.

Acho, who was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2012, played six seasons in the NFL with the Browns, Eagles, and briefly with the Giants. He retired and transitioned into broadcasting, quickly rising to prominence as a sports analyst for ESPN and later Fox Sports 1.

He also gained national attention for his Emmy-winning series, Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man, and became a bestselling author.

In his tribute, Acho emphasized the importance of legacy and perseverance, writing that his father “never made excuses, only made progress.” The post has since gone viral, resonating with fans and followers who praised the message of determination, resilience, and gratitude.

Acho currently co-hosts The Facility on FS1 and continues to use his platform to inspire conversations around race, identity, and personal growth.
