The long-awaited Emilokan Football Tournament officially kicks off this morning in Agege, bringing together grassroots teams in what has become one of the community’s most cherished sporting traditions.
Now in its 16th edition, the tournament is widely celebrated as “Veteran Street Soccer”—a festival of passion and pride built around the slogans: One Ball, One Agege, One Love.

Defending champions Ogba Ashade FC begin their title defence in the opening game at 7:30am on Sunday, 17 August 2025 against tough contenders Oju Oja FC. Fans are eager to see whether Ogba Ashade can retain their crown or if a new champion will emerge.
Several teams competing in the 16th Edition includes;
Ogba Ashade FC, Oju Oja FC, Darocha FC, Otubu FC, Atobaje FC, Orile Agege FC, Olusanya FC, Oyewole FC, Dopemu FC, Magoro FC, Amo’o FC , Keke FC, Sango FC, Ajegunle FC, Ifako Ijaiye, Elere All Star FC
Speaking ahead of the kick-off, Project Director Hon. Adewunmi Adekunle Feyisara said:
“This tournament is more than just football; it is about community pride and unity. Today, Agege once again shows the world what grassroots talent can achieve.”
Adding colour and excitement, Agility Famz KLUB was present throughout the day, supporting fan favourites and helping to keep the atmosphere lively from the first whistle to the last.
With football fever gripping Agege, organisers expect a day filled with drama, skill, and community celebration.
