In a resignation letter addressed to the club through its Chairman, Ambassador Kanu Nwankwo (Papilo), Ekwueme said the decision was taken with mixed emotions, bringing an end to his three-season stint with the Aba-based giants.
Reflecting on his time at the club, Ekwueme noted that his tenure was marked by both successes and challenges.
He expressed disappointment over what he described as situations where others handled his responsibilities while he bore the blame for outcomes.
Despite the circumstances surrounding his exit, the former midfielder expressed gratitude to the Abia State Government and the club’s leadership for the opportunity to serve.
He specifically thanked Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, and Chairman Ambassador Kanu Nwankwo for their support during his time at Enyimba.
Ekwueme, an ex-Nigeria international, joined Enyimba’s management with the aim of contributing to the club’s sustained dominance in Nigerian football.
His resignation now leaves a vacancy in the club’s technical leadership structure as Enyimba look ahead to the remainder of the season.
Further details regarding a replacement or restructuring of the club’s sporting department are yet to be announced by Enyimba International FC.
