Ekpo believes Chelle has already laid a solid foundation and should be allowed to implement his vision for the national team without distractions.
“Continuity is very important in football. Coach Chelle has started something positive, and he needs time to build on it,” Ekpo said. “The earlier the NFF secures his contract, the better it will be for the team.”
The former midfielder noted that Chelle has identified a core group of players capable of serving the Super Eagles over the next five to eight years, adding that stability will help the team grow tactically and mentally.
“You can see that the coach already knows the players he wants to build around. If you give him time, Nigeria will benefit in the long run,” he added.
Ekpo concluded by urging the football authorities to prioritize planning and structure, insisting that frequent changes at the top have previously hindered Nigeria’s progress on the international stage
