Ekofootball League: Young Stars, YG Consolidate Lead After Week 4

Young Stars Football club of Badagry consolidated their lead in the Group B table of the 2020/2021 Ekofootball League when they recorded an away win against Papa Soccer FA.

Young Stars beat Papa Soccer 1-0 to move from 9 points to 12 points after 4 matches. With an unassailable 12 points, Young Stars will end up as leaders of Group B.

As a second-place team, Diamond Stars on six points can only garner a total of nine points if they win their fourth game in the group next week.

To get to second place of Group B, Diamond Stars of Ikeja secured an away win against Little Wonders also of Ikeja, to move from third place to second place with 6 points after three matches with one game in hand.

Vino Gano FC of Ikorodu were on bye this weekend.
Papa Soccer, Little Wonders, and Vino Gano FC all have one game in hand.

It was a different situation in Group A, where leaders YG FC played a 1-1 draw against Alex Transfiguration FC, sharing points to move from 5 points to six points after 4 matches.

This 1-1 draw gives Alex Transfiguration FC the opportunity to overtake YG FC in their next game if they win by midweek, as they have one game in hand to complete four matches in the first round. Alex Transfiguration are presently on five points.

In another Group A match today, Shola FC of Ikorodu woke up from its slumber to record their first victory in the league defeating New Era FC of Badagry 3-2. With this victory in the match played at the French Village, Badagry, Shola FC moved a step upward the group A table from the bottom rug with zero points, to the fourth position with three points. New Era FC replaced them at the bottom with just one point.

Diamond Stars, Papa Soccer FC, Little Wonders, and Vino Gano FC all have a game in hand.

Opopoona Iwa Mimo FC were on bye this weekend in Group A.
