Ekofootball League Updates: YG FC, Young Stars Top Table In First Round

YG Football Club and Young Stars Football club both finished the first round of the EkoFootball League 2020/21 as league leaders in Group A and Group B tables respectively, as the remaining matches of the first round will be concluded on Sunday, May 30, 2021.

It was a narrow escape for YG FC as they only outwitted Alex Transfiguration FA on the same six points, scoring more goals. None of the two teams lost any game, as YG FC scored six goals while Alex Transfiguration FA scored five goals.

The two teams won 1 game each, drew 3 matches each, and did not lose any game.
When the two teams played head-to-head, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Still, in Group A, New Era Fc left the bottom spot at the end of the first round after their away victory against Opopoona Iwa Mimo FC. They won 1-0 to move to fourth place on the table with four points and a superior -1 goal difference compared to Shola FC -2 leaving them at the bottom of the table with the same four points but an interior -2 goal difference.
Opopoona Iwa Mimo FC despite their home loss still occupied the third position in the league.

In Group B, the leaders on the table won’t change as Young Stars Football Club have unassailable 12 points compared to the second and third-placed teams Diamond Stars FC and Papa Soccer FA on six and four points respectively.

In Sunday’s last Group B first-round games, at the Agege Stadium, both Diamond Stars FC and Papa Soccer FA will battle for second place on the table.

If Diamond Stars win, they will move to 9 points and a confirmed second place. It is a victory for Papa Soccer, they will overtake and move to second position with 7 points. And in case of a draw, scored or barren, Diamond Stars will have 7 points, while Papa Soccer gets 5 points, as they retain their positions going into the last games of the first round.

The last Group B game is very important to the Taiwo Oloyede-tutored Vino Gano Fc of Ikorodu, as they need to beat Little Wonders FC also of Ikorodu to step out of the bottom position to at least the fourth position. If Vino Gano wins, they will earn their first three points and a draw would give them one point, which would be a lot better than a loss that would keep them glued to the bottom spot of the table with zero-point going into the crucial second round.

The Vino Gano Fc vs Little Wonders game will be played at the Strong Tower Academy Ground, Ikorodu.
