Ekiti Beat Lagos To Reach NYSC DG’S Cup Final

National Youth Service Corps football team, NYSC from Ekiti State gave a good account of themselves following 1-0 victory over Lagos NYSC football team in the semi-final played yesterday in the NYSC DG’s Soccer Cup taking place at NYSC Camp, Ede, Osun State.

Both teams gave their best before Lagos surrendered to their opponents through their own goal in the 82nd minute to give Ekiti a chance to reach their first-ever final of the NYSC DG’s Cup.

Ekiti would face Edo in the NYSC DG’s Cup final which holds this evening to decide who would represent the zone in the national NYSC DG’s Cup scheduled to hold in Abuja later in the year.

In the second semi-final match played yesterday, Edo humbled Ondo 2-1 to reach the final stage.

Commenting on the team’s performance Head coach of Ekiti, Kehinde Anjorin said all their matches were tough but noted that Lagos gave them serious fights before they surrendered to them.

“It was a good outing for us because our target was to reach the final stage and we achieved that. Our match against Lagos was not easy at all because they gave us a good fight but thanked God that we were able to defeat them” he said.

Anjorin who commended his boys for their doggedness and fight spirit displayed throughout the competition boasted that he has come a long way and he cannot afford to lose the final. He said his boys are in high spirit and they are ready to make Ekiti people proud when they confront Edo this evening in Ede.
