Eguavoen Adopts Interactive Strategy To Motivate Super Eagles’ Players

Super Eagles interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen has disclosed that he using an interactive strategy to motivate his players ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.

With the 33rd African continental soccer showpiece about to start this Sunday in Cameroon and Nigeria’s first game billed for Tuesday, Eguavoen acknowledged that his players need to be in a competitive mood.

The team’s opening game in Group D is against Egypt, who have Liverpool of England ace, Mohamned Salah and are considered one of the favorites to lift the cup on February 6th.

However, ‘Egu’ reckons that his team will be able to scale The Pharaohs’ hurdle and overcome every other obstacle in the competition if they stay focused.

In his effort to knock the lads into the championship-winning mode, the former defender, skipper and head coach of the Eagles added that he talks one-on-one with each of the stars, in order to feel their pulse and catch any issues that might be bothering them individually.

He disclosed that he was able to do more of that on the team’s chartered flight to Garoua on Wednesday, as he was able to get up close with many of the players personally during the trip.

The gaffer stated further that it is the same strategy he holds with his assistant coaches and other members of the crew, as he knows he cannot have sole ownership of the best ideas that can lead the team to glory in Cameroon.
