Edwards Praises Arokodare’s Effort Despite Wolves’ 3-1 Loss to Chelsea

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Rob Edwards has commended Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare for his performance in Wolves’ 3-1 Premier League defeat to Chelsea at Molineux.

Arokodare pulled one goal back for Wolves in the second half, finishing coolly inside the box in the 54th minute, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Chelsea from securing the win thanks to a first-half hat-trick from Cole Palmer.

Edwards highlighted that, despite the result, Arokodare’s work rate and contribution were positives in a difficult outing.

“We’re trying to change things and progress in the hardest league in the world,” the Wolves boss said. “The window’s been quite busy with tryouts, there’s a couple of fresh lads that have come in that are excellent.

And then Tolu’s got another goal, he’s another one that’s, like all of us, we’re trying to progress and move forward and get better. So it’s great for him, really, really good. He did some really good things and worked hard for the team. So yeah, that’s great for him.”

The comments reflect Edwards’s recognition of Arokodare’s individual performance, even as Wolves struggled defensively, with errors contributing to Chelsea’s dominance, particularly in the first half.

Arokodare’s goal was his second of the Premier League season, and the strike briefly lifted the home crowd before Chelsea regained control to seal the victory.

Despite Wolves’ precarious position near the bottom of the table, Edwards’s praise for Arokodare underlines the club’s belief in the Nigerian forward’s potential as they look to build momentum under his leadership.
