Having wrapped up the 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) regular season in dominant style, defending champions Edo Queens FC of Benin are now setting their sights on two major targets: the 2025 President Federation Cup and the highly anticipated NWFL Super Six Championship.
Edo Queens topped Group A with an impressive 35 points from 14 matches, sealing their regular season with a commanding 2-0 win over Confluence Queens of Lokoja on April 30 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

Their next mission is a crucial Round of 16 clash in the President Federation Cup, where they face Osun Babes FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Saturday, May 3, 2025. With pride and momentum on their side, the Benin-based side is determined to showcase top-tier football and secure a place in the quarter-finals.
Led by coach Moses Aduku, Edo Queens have become a formidable force in the league, and they’ll be looking to avenge last year’s quarterfinal exit where they fell 4-0 to Rivers Angels in the same competition.
Victory in Lagos will be the perfect springboard as the team heads to Ikenne, Ogun State for the prestigious Super Six tournament, where the national champion—and Nigeria’s representative for the CAF Women’s Champions League—will be crowned.
Meanwhile, Hon. Desmond Amadin Enabulele, Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, has rallied support for the team, declaring that the goal is beyond national dominance.
“To us in Edo State, the issue of Super Six is a done deal. We are looking beyond Super Six and WAFU-B—we want the CAF Women’s Champions League trophy in Edo. His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, is proud of you all and has provided everything needed for success,” Enabulele charged.
With the full backing of the state government and a winning momentum, Edo Queens are poised to turn their dominance into silverware in the coming weeks.
