Edo Queens Pip Honey Badgers 2-0, Tackle Naija Ratels On Saturday

Edo Queens FC of Benin-City on Friday at the Old Parade Ground Area 10 Abuja started the 2022 Sheroes pre-season Cup tournament on a positive note as they beat Honey Badgers of Makurdi 2-0 in their first game of the tournament.

The two team clashed in the second game of the day after Nasarawa Amazons humbled Confluence Queens FC of Lokoja 2-0.
Despite ending the game 0-0 at halftime, with Edo Queens missing scoring chances, the Godwin Obaseki Queens came back fighting very hard and dominating all department of the game putting pressure on the girls from Makurdi. But the Honey Badgers defence stood tall to hold our attackers from finding the back of their net until the pressure resulted to a free kick for Edo Queens. Mafisere Kafayat, who came in during the second half deservedly put the Benin City based Queens in the ascendancy in the 64th minute off a well converted free kick at the edge of the Badgers 18 yard box after an Edo Queens attacker was fouled while attempting to force her way into the Honey Badgers vital area.
The first goal scored by Mafisere of Edo Queens gingered up the players with more confidence as they continue to mount pressure upon pressure on the opponent which later forced the Benue girls into committing another foul right inside the six yard box which resulted to a penalty in favour of Edo Queens.

Suliat Abideen who did excellently well for her side did not waste time as the penalty was beautifully taken and Honey Badgers goalkeeper could not provide an answer to it as Edo Queens made it two goals given the team a well deserved three points at the end of regulation time.
Edo Queens will battle the host team Naija Ratels FC of Abuja tomorrow by 10 am prompt at the same venue.

The Moses Aduku -led girls are determined to make their teeming fans happy in this championship. So with what we have see today, there is no doubt that Edo Queens will present a highly formidable NWFL side for the new season.
