EDO 2020: Team Lagos Intensifies Training, Goes into Closed Camping Till 13th February, 2021

Months of training and preparation has flown by, now Team Lagos has moved its athletes and coaches in various sports associations from open to closed camping ahead of the National Sports Festival, EDO 2020 that was rescheduled to hold 14th-24th February, 2021 in Benin City, Edo State.

The Lagos state athletes will be camped at Anglican House, Bariga, after which the camp will be closed on 13th February, 2021 and the final athletes will leave for Edo on the same day.

After a numerous meeting with various Sports Association Chairmen, Sports Coordinators, secretaries and Athletes, the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission Oluwatoyin Gafaar stated that Lagos state will attend the Festival with only its best athletes.

“We are going to the sports festival with fit and prepared athletes who are ready to represent Lagos State. These athletes need to work extra hard to get back to their fitness before the festival,”he said.

“We are concentrating on sports in which we have comparative advantages, and our best athletes are those to be camped. It is not going to be jamboree,” the DG added.

The Director General also mentioned that all athletes representing Lagos State at the forthcoming EDO 2020 NSF will be made to sign a Code of Conduct form and while their parents would have to sign Indemnity on their behalf also.

He encourages athletes, sports associations, coaches and all those in the camp to embrace unity and work together for the success of the camp will also assuring the of the State Commissions committment to ensure they are provided with necessary logistics.

“We need a united force for us to have a successful National Sports Festival Project this year,”he concluded.
