He said with the charge of Governor Douye Diri to surpass the 4th place finish by the State during the 2006 edition in Abeokuta, the athletes and officials were fired up to clinch as many gold medals as possible.

With Team Bayelsa excelling in swimming, cycling, combat sports such as kungfu, kickboxing, Sir Braveman Wodi stated that expectations were high for more medal haul in Athletics, Weightlifting, Wrestling, and Special Sports.

The State Director of Sports urged Bayelsans to continue to support and pray for the team to excel at the Sports Festival.

Sir Wodi emphasized that Team Bayelsa was never distracted following the threat issued by the Edo State government to abruptly end the games owing to the non-release of funds by the Federal Government, as all gaze was fixed on the ultimate target of achieving a decent performance by the State contingent.
