Edo 2020: Ondo State Volleyball Team Set To Retain National Sports Festival Title As Team Undergoes Series Of Trainings

Ondo State Volleyball Coach, Adeniyi Adelaku has revealed that his team plans to retain the title as the defending champions of the male category at the upcoming but delayed 2020 National Sports Festival, Benin, Edo with the team taking up series of training for three weeks in preparation for the festival.

Adelalu posited that the team was not ready to leave the title to any other team, adding that the team was focused on retaining the title as they are currently training with 12 players in Akure.

“The players were training individually during the COVID-19 lockdown, I gave them a training schedule to follow based on their abilities. Everyone one of them was training and working individually on his weak areas; I was also checking and monitoring how they were training.”

” I usually use our past experiences and mistakes to correct and prepare them ahead of any competition because we all know that other teams will also want to take over our current position, but we will fight well to maintain our title and show our supremacy in the game,” he vowed.

Notably, Ondo state defeated Plateau 3-1 to emerge champions at the 2018 National Sports Festival in Abuja but the event has been delayed due to the COVID-19 menace.
