Edna Imade, a forward of Edo State descent, has signed a long-term contract with German Frauen-Bundesliga champions FC Bayern München, becoming the first woman of Nigerian descent to join the club.
The 24-year-old joins from Spanish side Granada CF, where she scored 25 goals over two seasons and helped the club avoid relegation in consecutive Liga F campaigns. She also played a key role in Granada’s historic run to the 2025 Copa de la Reina semifinals.

Imade initially joined Granada in 2023 from Cacereño Femenino.
Her performances in Spain drew praise for her pace, strength, and finishing, making her one of the league’s standout attackers.
Bayern announced that Imade will spend the 2025–26 season on loan at Real Sociedad to continue her development before integrating fully with the first team in Munich.
The club’s sporting director praised her “exceptional potential and physical presence in attack.”
Granada CF thanked Imade for her dedication and professionalism and wished her well in Germany.
The move is considered a milestone for Nigerian representation in top-tier European women’s football.
Imade, who is yet to make her senior debut for Nigeria, is now seen as a strong candidate for future Super Falcons selection.
