Edel FC Coach Ben Okaro Steps Down After 1-1 Draw Against Heartland FC

Ben Okaro has stepped down from his managerial role at NNL side, Edel FC, His sudden resignation jolted the club as his decision came less than 24 hours after a 1-1 draw against Heartland FC on Saturday in Awka.

Okaro’s departure climaxed an internal feud in the fold which has badly affected the club in their campaign this season.

On Easter Sunday morning, as the club was about embarking their journey to Nanka for the NEROS/Anambra FA Cup Final, Okaro informed officials of his decision to quit.

“I’ve told the GM (Olisa Onuchukwu) that I’m leaving”, Okaro said, I didn’t communicate with the club’s President because I believe the GM will do so”.

Okaro was visibly at the Cup final with Edmund Ndukanma standing in the dugout.

A substantive coach is expected to be engaged by the hierarchy of Edel FC in the coming days.

The club is stuck at the base of their NNL group standings, after plucking just two points from four matches.

They will be guests of Ibom Youths FC this weekend in Uyo in a matchday five fixture.
