Echiejile scores, Obilor sees red

Nigeria international, Elderson Echiejile scored the lone goal for his club, HJK Helsinki as they lost 4-1 to FC Inter Turku at the Veritas Stadium on Monday.

 

Echiejile who was starting his second game for HJK, gave his side an early lead in the second minute, but Inter bounced back with a brace from Timo Furuholm in the 10th and 19th minute.

Another Nigerian at HJK Friday Obilor was sent off after a reckless tackle in the 36th minute to give Inter a one-man advantage going into half-time.

The fate of Echiejile’s side was sealed in the second half with goals by Juuso Haemaelaeinen and Daniel Kamy.

Inter moved up to seventh with their second win of the season, while Helsinki dropped to fourth in the table after experiencing their first defeat of the season.

Echiejile who joined HJK Helsinki on a one year renewable deal from AS Monaco will be with his side when they play table-toppers, Ilves on Friday.

The 31-year-old has represented the Super Eagles at two AFCON and World Cup tournaments – winning the former in 2013.
