Former Super Eagles left-back, Elderson Uwa Echiejile has joined the growing number of soccer stars making comments about the impending general elections in Nigeria, as he says the opening polls on Saturday have to be peaceful and credible.

Sports247.ng can report that the 30-year-old defender, who welcomed a baby with his wife, Vwemo, about this time last year, after they married in December 2016, also urged Nigerians not to sell their votes.

The soft-spoken star, who has played for Insurance of Benin City, Stade Rennes of France, Sporting Braga of Portugal, Monaco of France, as well as Sivaspor of Turkey, Standard Liege and Cercle Brugge of Belgium, is of a view that Nigeria will make progress only through peaceful election.

He took to social media to reveal his thoughts, advice the electorate and wish the country well, starting with the Presidential Polls this Saturday.

Echiejile posted: “Please do not sell your votes! Praying for a peaceful election process. #Nigeria #Eue3.”
