Eberechi Eze Excluded From Analysts’ Permutations For England’s World Cup Squad

Arsenal’s Nigerian-born summer arrival, Eberechi Eze may not be part of England’s squad for this year’s World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico, if critical permutations from two analysts are anything to go by.

Sports247 gathered that, while Eze is considered as a prized asset by many Arsenal fans, former Scotland coach, Ally McCoist and an ex-player, Jeff Stelling have other ideas.

Their permutations came after former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher’s options for England’s squad but, while McCoist and Stelling agreed with him for the main part, they made some exclusions.

Though Eze continues to excel since his switch from Crystal Palace, and he was a key member of England’s squad under former manager, Gareth Southgate, McCoist and Stelling believe he is not good enough for this year’s World Cup.

Rather than tip the Nigerian-born dazzler for The Three Lions’ 2026 World Cup roster, the critical duo looked in the direction of West Ham United’s captain, Jarrod Bowen, who they believe can offer more for the squad.

This comes at a point when Eze’s game time has drastically reduced at Arsenal in recent weeks, with The Gunners’ coach, Mikel Arteta preferring Martin Odegaard and Mikel Merino over the Nigerian-born star.

McCoist said: “I think Jarrod Bowen has got a real case. I really think he’s got a case. He scores goals, makes goals. Bowen’s return in terms of goals and assists means he’s got a real case.

“I am not saying that, on their day, they are not better players, but if you are looking for somebody that is seven-and-a-half, eight out of ten, that’s Jarrod Bowen.”
