Eagles Update: Crooked Dolly backs Bafana Bafana to clip Eagles wings

Montpellier winger Keagan Dolly has rallied round South Africa ahead of the crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The exciting player who is currently recuperating from a shin fracture problem since September tormented the Eagles in Bafana Bafana’s 2-0 win against Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in 2016.

Despite missing out in the all important cracker, Dolly appealed to the lads to get the job done in front of their passionate fans on Saturday.

Speaking to Kickoff.com from his base in France, Dolly said: It’s obviously sad not be there with the boys for this game, but I believe everyone who has been called up fully deserves to wear the jersey, and they will do the job tomorrow (Saturday).”

Dolly recalled how Bafana Bafana silenced the noisy Nigerian fans in 2016 when he played an important role in the 2-0 win over the Super Eagles.

“I think a key factor was that we were not intimidated by the atmosphere or their supporters. We focused more on what we’re good at and how we could best penetrate their defence by playing our style of football,” he says.

“We were focused on ourselves throughout the entire camp and we were all willing to fight for beyond just the 90 minutes.”

Dolly advised his teammates not to be carried away by the star studded team that the Super Eagles will parade on Saturday.

“It’s important that we pay no mind to their so-called ‘big’ players and believe in our own quality, which is fully capable of coming out on top.”

“At the end of the day it comes down to who wants it more and who is willing to fight until the very end.

He wished his colleagues the best and urged them to make the entire nation proud.

“I just want to wish the team the best of luck and remind them that they should remember that they are not only going out there for themselves but for the whole of South Africa – do us proud, boys!”
