Duke Udi: How NPFL Teams Can Get Into Next FIFA Club World Cup

Former Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan striker, Duke Udi has forwarded a formula that can help a team from the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) appear at the next edition of FIFA Club World Cup, Sports247 reports.

While lamenting over what he called the pain of watching Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, Esperance of Tunisia and Al-Ahly of Egypt line out at the ongoing prestigious competition in USA, Udi took a swipe at what he called ‘side talk’ that holds back NPFL teams.

He added that recent modifications to refereeing rules and regulations, as spelt out on Wednesday by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), would only end up flat if all hands do not come together to steady the domestic league.

The ex-youth international and former Grasshopper FC of Switzerland ace declared: “The only thing is for them to join everything together to make the Nigerian league great again. We are watching Sundowns and Esperance, but we are not happy that our own is not there.”

Udi stressed that the only way NPFL clubs can get to feature on the global stage is when issues affecting the league are tackled frontally and critically, instead of what he inferred to as current acts of deception going on across the terrain.

“Watching other African clubs playing and our own is not there does nor make us happy. So, we should end all this side talk and everything about disunity. Let’s pull ourselves together so we can move together in harmony, and our league will get to the next level,” Udi stressed.
