Sports247 reports that Engineer Kida’s declaration came after an announcement by the NBBF revealed that D’Tigress will face the American Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) outfit in a pre-World Cup friendly.

The encounter, which has been tagged an international exhibition game, will be part of D’Tigress’ upcoming ‘Global Campaign’ heading into the FIBA Women’s World Cup, and will take place on April 25th at Viejas Arena in San Diego, USA.

“This game is more than a pre-season fixture. It is a statement of intent. D’Tigress have earned global respect through years of dominance, discipline, and consistency.

“Competing against a premier WNBA franchise further validates our position and showcases Nigerian excellence on the world stage,” said Kida, who was recently backed by the global body (FIBA) in his election schedule for the NBBF.

A media statement by the NBBF added, “The historic matchup forms part of D’Tigress’ broader global preparation strategy ahead of upcoming international competitions, including the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

“The game marks the first-ever meeting between D’Tigress and Los Angeles Sparks, one of the most storied franchises in the WNBA. It also signals Nigeria’s increasing integration into the global basketball ecosystem.

“The fixture, announced as part of The Sparks’ official pre-season slate, represents a milestone in the global positioning of Nigerian basketball and women’s sport. (It also) reinforces the country’s reputation as Africa’s leading basketball nation.”

Sports247 reports further that D’Tigress will also play another WNBA outfit, Indiana Fever on May 2nd, as the NBBF steps up preparations for the seven-time African champions and current holders ahead of this year’s FIBA Women’s World Cup.
