Nigeria’s women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress, produced an impressive offensive display to defeat the Philippines Women’s National Basketball Team 101–84 in their Group D encounter on Saturday.

The Nigerian side delivered a commanding performance, reaching the century mark after a strong second-half display that sealed an emphatic victory.
Nigeria started steadily, finishing the first quarter level in intensity despite trailing slightly as the Philippines took the opening period 26–21.
The West Africans responded in the second quarter, matching their opponents point-for-point as both sides remained competitive heading into halftime.
The turning point came in the third quarter when D’Tigress raised the tempo, outscoring the Philippines 34–21 to take firm control of the contest.
Nigeria then wrapped up the game in dominant fashion in the fourth quarter, limiting their opponents to just 12 points while adding 25 of their own.
Several Nigerian players delivered notable performances.
Victoria Macaulay led the scoring for Nigeria with 16 points, while Nicole Enabosi recorded an impressive double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Elizabeth Balogun added 14 points, while Ezinne Kalu contributed 13 points and seven assists to help power the Nigerian offense.
Other solid contributions came from Murjanatu Musa, who posted 10 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, while Promise Amukamara also chipped in key minutes for the team.
For the Philippines, Kaye Pastrana and Jack Animam Pontejos each scored 16 points, but their efforts were not enough to stop the Nigerian surge.
The victory keeps Nigeria firmly in contention in Group D, highlighting the team’s attacking depth and defensive discipline as they continue their campaign.
D’Tigress will now shift focus to their next fixture as they aim to maintain momentum and strengthen their push for qualification.
